We went to the Temple at 730 am to go through, Olga & I went through together. My but that is sure a wonderful place & the instruction which we received there was certainly great. I shall never forget it. We finished going through at 230 p.m. I hurried downtown got my grips and packed our stuff up, went to the Station, where I took the train at 515 p.m. There was 33 Elders left Salt Lake on that day. I bought a sleeper from Salt Lake to Chicago.
We travelled all that night.

1917 Jan 23 - Salt Lake
Jan 23, 2017
We appeared at the Bishop's office at nine a.m. where we made arrangements for my ticket from Salt Lake to New York. I was also set apart, at 3 p.m. by Joseph F. Smith Jr. It was sure a lovely blessing given me & promised me if I would be faithful I would have an opportunity to labor in the place where the Church was started & in the same place where Joseph Smith was born.
After the meeting I went down to Olga's place where Parly C, Olga, Vivin & myself went & fixed up our lunch basket for our trip to New York, after which we four had our pictures taken.

We took in some more sights of the City & at night we went to another show, I got so wound up in it that when the sad part came along, it made me think so much of home & the loved ones which I left in Raymond that I cried. Felt so bad. Parly, Olga, Vivin made all kinds of fun of me but I told them that there was no shame in crying, it just showed that I had a heart & that it was in the right place.
